ABAN was established to promote the
professional interest of persons engaged in the accounting
profession whose commitment and dedication is the pursuit of
professional and academic excellence for the benefit, needs
and advancement of blacks in the accounting profession,
other than carrying on by the Association of trading or
other profit making activities.
The aims and objectives of ABAN are:
· To facilitate and encourage
the entry of blacks into the accounting profession to
promote their academic and professional excellence;
· To facilitate, encourage
and promote black female persons into the accounting
profession;
· To encourage the
development of committed and dedicated black accounting
professionals, managers and public administrators; and
enhance their capabilities and skills to serve an ever
increasingly complex business environment;
· To recognise and respond to
basic needs of the black community for accounting support to
community based organisations and emerging business sector;
·
To establish contacts,
foster and maintain co-operative and cordial relations with
local, regional and international institutions/organisations
engaged in the accounting profession;
· To create awareness of the
accounting profession amongst high school students and those
at tertiary institutions.
